Let me start off by saying if you are interested in being freaked out and not being able to sleep without
a night-light for a few days, by all means see this movie. After the first time I saw it I didn’t want to be
alone at home and needed to sleep with the lights on for a few days. After calming down and saying to
myself 'this is just a movie' I was able to appreciate it. Kudos to director Gore Verbinski for scaring the
daylights out of me.
I liked this movie because it really did deliver something spooky and it did make you think. On the other
hand, it makes you laugh a little because how can a videotape kill you? This movie had an excellent plot
and was based on the Japanese movie Ringu (1998) which I heard was even creepier then the American
version. I think I’ll be skipping that one. The one thing I didn’t like about this movie was that it does
leave you a bit confused. I felt they could have explained things a little better.
When that little zombie girl in the movie stopped haunting my dreams I decided to buy the DVD. After
watching the movie again and not flinching I decided to check out all the deleted scenes. After watching
those I would have to say that the deleted scenes freaked me out more then the movie did and there
are a lot of them. They are worth watching. I would recommend everyone to watch extras the DVD offers.
The story-line was very good. It kept you guessing throughout the whole movie. You really don’t see
anything coming. The music track they picked was very freaky and definitely fit the movie. I thought the
acting in the movie was very good. The leads Naomi Watts who plays Rachel and David Dorfman who
plays Aiden did very well. The make-up and the computer animation was great as well. Some of those
scenes nearly made my heart stop. After watching this movie I thought twice about putting a tape into
the VCR that I didn’t recognize. I would recommend this movie to all horror fans.
